Preto  is an outcome of PROJETO BRASIL [BRAZIL PROJECT] (2015), that plunged into literary references to raise issues stemming from the following provocation: “Identity as it is?” Inspired by the production of theorists such as Achille Mbembe, they decided to closely experience the issues “How to think about difference and life, what is akin and what differs, what exceeds and what it is common.”

The play is based on the public speech of a black woman and what her speech is capable of moving. The group reacts to the racism dimensions which are part of the relationships and which define the image of the social body. Submerged in real instances, they create dialogues between the artists and creators, guided by questions such as:  To whom do we want to talk right now? What voices do we want to hear? What images do we want to describe? How do I see myself? How do they see me? What space should we occupy? Who is talking? Who is listening?

A project which seeks to build spaces for exchange of different cartographies and lifestyles, noting racism in the everyday life of the country, in relation to the world. Being affected to bring to the rehearsal room artistic reactions, based on a dramaturgy that arises at the same time as the gesture. Reinforcing the public dimension associated with the project, designed as an interaction and formation space, available for public conversations and the common findings about future possibilities.
