Cia. Marginal was created in 2006 at Rede de Desenvolvimento da Maré(Maré Development Network) (Rio de Janeiro), from a meeting between artists from different origins, formations and experiences, who discovered in the theater and in the collective work their most powerful form of performance in the world. Most of their shows come from research in situated contexts (favelas, prisons, train stations), in which they reflect on the city from the point of view of the periphery.

The piece takes place in a favela of Rio de Janeiro, telling the story of a father and his daughter who haven’t seen each other for years. He used to be a drug dealer in the 80’s, when the illegal drug trade still had a moral bond with the community, she is still a drug dealer. The piece revolves around an ideological conflict between two characters, represented by four actors who alternate both roles continuously, in a scenic playing with no fixed position and where fiction is always at risk of reality.
