Show | Encruzilhada [Crossroads]

2016 | Fragmento Urbano | São Paulo | SP | Length: 50min

“Crossroads” is the dance offspring of a long process of theoretical and corporal research, created from reflections that sought to dilute the boundaries between Brazilian popular dances and Hip Hop dances. Bringing up, through experimental and contemporary language, a discussion about today, the resignification of ancestry, the urban spaces and social relations that permeate them. In rescuing popular manifestations that are part of a little celebrated collective memory, excluded from the hegemonic narrative of History, it proposes an act of resistance of the peripheries, the masters of popular culture and little recognized Hip Hop.

Grupo Fragmento Urbano is a dance group that was generated in 2009 from the restlessness of young people from the outskirts of the Eastern Zone of SP that brought, as a point of common interest, the creation of shows from the language of Urban Dances (Hip Hop) to urban intervention. Understanding dance as a broad and deep field of research, research for creation now focuses on the investigation of a peripheral, Afro-diasporic, Amerindian, plural, and powerful corporeality. It is a principle of the group to circulate through the most varied places of urban area, experiencing in each of them the distinct audiences, since the show is a source of continuous research of the group that seeks to find in the social, ethnic and cultural heterogeneity stimulus for the composition.
